Tina Louise
Maureen liked playing athletic games in her youth and excelled in sports. Her ability to perform perfectly complemented the passion she had for athletics. As evidenced by winning pretty much every Feis awards for drama and performances in the theater that her nation offered. Her acceptance was at the Abbey Theater by age 14 and was able to pursue her dream of the opera stage and classical theatre. Charles Laughton was mesmerized after viewing the Maureen screen examination. He was captivated by the beautiful eyes she had. Laughton as well as his friend Erich Pommer changed Maureen FitzSimons' name to "Maureen O'Hara" which is a slightly smaller name for the marquee before casting the actress as a part of Jamaica Inn, (1939). As a contract holder to Laughton her next movie was scheduled to be shot in America (The Hunchback and Notre Dame (1939)) with RKO Pictures. This epic movie had a huge success, and the contract of Maureen was bought from Laughton through RKO. Maureen Laughton was already in two big motion pictures by the time she was 19 years old.
